Empowering Communities: A Year of Impactful Charitable Donations in 2023

Empowering Communities: A Year of Impactful Charitable Donations in 2023

As we step into the new year, there's no denying the power of collective giving and its profound impact on communities. In 2023, the spirit of generosity flowed through Totnes and its neighbouring areas, leaving a trail of positive change! We are pleased to have been a part of so many fund-raising events in the past year which have truly exemplified the essence of community spirit!

Totnes Tennis Club - A garden for Inclusivity:

At the Totnes Tennis Club, the community rallied together to create a more inclusive space for all. Thanks to the students at the Lifeworks College alongside volunteers from the community, the Totnes borough wildlife garden project began to flourish! We were able to contribute to a wheelchair-friendly bench in the new gardens of the club and generous donations by Inter-Line Building Supplies, Southern Timber and Brandon Hire Station as well, really brought this project to life! This thoughtful area is a wonderful addition to the Totnes Tennis Club and the vibrant atmosphere of the garden can be enjoyed by all!

Books By the River – Nurturing Young Minds:

In the summer of 23 Totnes celebrated the magic of reading and the Totnes Summer Book Hunt began! Imagine the joy of stumbling upon a hidden treasure while exploring the world of literature! We, amongst other local businesses supported this enchanting event. We also provided an extra delight – a China Blue voucher for every book pack discovered. This initiative not only encouraged a love for reading but also instilled a sense of adventure in the hearts of young readers. We look forward to the 2024 event!

Totnes Regatta – Racing Towards Community Unity:

The Totnes Regatta, a local tradition, on the River Dart returned for another year. China Blue were proud to have sponsored one of the races, produced the tankards for the winners and donated for the raffle. The community came together to ensure the success of this exciting event, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared joy. The ripple effect of this support extended far beyond the waters, reinforcing the importance of communal backing in preserving cherished traditions. We congratulate the winners from the Totnes Rowing Club on their successes during the regattas!

Teignbridge Trotter – Totnes 10k for a Healthy Community:

Health and wellness took centre stage with the Teignbridge Trotters, a Totnes 10k run we support every year. The money raised from this event supports the work of Totnes Caring, a local charity doing fantastic work benefitting the elderly in Totnes. This event accepts 625 runners and always sells out! If you wish to enter the 2024 races, you may do so using the link below. Another sell out year symbolises a commitment to a healthier community here in Totnes!

Paignton Lady Rugby – Empowering Women on the Field:

Last year we had the pleasure of sponsoring Beth Taylor, from the Paignton Lady’s Rugby team. Our sponsorships, amongst other local businesses, helped support grass roots sport and contributed to the club. We hope that the support extended far beyond the rugby field, creating a positive impact on the community.

Totnes Caring - A Legacy of Support:

We will continue to support the work of Totnes Caring. They remain a cornerstone of support for the community. Established in 1987, this local charity has been instrumental in providing hundreds of people with the support, skills, tools, and confidence to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Follow their Facebook page to keep up to date with all the work they do in our community!

Over 100 Small Donations – A Symphony of Generosity:

Beyond these spotlighted initiatives, the heart of China Blue beats with the rhythm of over 100 small donations to various local events. These donations, though individually modest, collectively amounted to a significant contribution of over £3500.

As we reflect on the charitable donations, we were lucky enough to give in 2023, each contribution, big or small, has woven a tapestry of positive change. In the spirit of a new year, let us carry forward the torch of communal support, knowing that when we unite and build a stronger, more vibrant community for all.

This year we look forward to working with some very special local charity’s, supporting our local community, plus partaking in an event of our own.
