Wild Thyme Deli & Kitchen, the new generation of dining at China Blue!

In the mist of the COVID pandemic we made the difficult decision to close Blue 55 Burger Bar permanently, make the shop slightly smaller and extend our café.

Though closing throughout lockdowns brought huge challenges for us like most businesses, it gave us time to think about what sort of café we really want to have here.

So, in July 2020 we reopened our café doors with a new menu, new look, new vibe and new name... Wild Thyme Deli & Kitchen! The new generation of dining at China Blue, bringing you original concepts with modern and imaginative twists!

We are open 7 days a week offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, bakes, cakes, coffee and much more! Almost everything is now homemade, from our sausage rolls to our delicious cakes, our jams to our tartar sauce! Our menu is updated throughout the year to suit the season, offering plenty of meat and plant-based options and most dishes can be tailored to any dietary requitement. We have been blessed with Leah, our new (ish) Head Chef who joined our long-standing chef, Gaz in the kitchen. Leah spends her spare time on her allotments where she grows her own seasonal produce and even smokes her own cheese and salt! Fresh and local ingredients are at the heart of her inspiration for the delicious dishes she creates. Leah has a passion for produce that cuts down the impact our food has on the planet, so her values align perfectly with what we want to achieve here at Wild Thyme.

Our in-house pastry chef Tori joined Wild Thyme in September 2020, and it’s safe to say we’ve all gained a few kilos since!! Bringing years of experience, Tori bakes the most delicious and indulgent range of sweet treats filling our counter with endless temptation! Her creativity and passion for baking really is incredible and has been keeping our customers (and staff) very happy! For the caramel lovers, our speciality is Tori’s Millionaires, they come in a whole selection of different flavours, but the brownie based salted caramel millionaire is definitely our favourite…

We keep our Wild Thyme Instagram up to date with all our vibrant seasonal dishes and what new treats are going on the counter each day. We might be biased, but we think our food will be worthy of a picture on your grid too!  (Tag us at wildthyme_totnes)

As a family run business, we are proud to use local suppliers where possible in order to support other small businesses around us and reduce our food miles.

Our friendly, laid back atmosphere makes everyone feel welcome, whether your solo dining, in a group or grabbing breakfast and a coffee with your dog! You can enjoy alfresco dining in our secret garden style patio among our selection of herbs, perfect for those warmer summer days.

Our aim is to bring people together with a mutual love of great local food …. ‘Go wild for a while’!
